The Cadillac Escalade SUV (sports utility vehicle) includes an infotainment system with a radio, audio players for MP3 and other music files, anti-theft controls, rear seat entertainment, navigation, a phone and CD and DVD options. The CD/DVD player can be used for playing CDs and DVDs. Problems with the DVD player can include playback issues, geographic copyright restrictions and error s. These problems can be corrected by following a few troubleshooting steps.
Step 1
Press the "CD screen" button if you cant see disc player track information and s because you are navigating or using a map. The screen is shared. Pressing the "CD Screen" button splits the display in two. DVD s will appear.
Step 2
Place the Cadillac Escalades gear shift into the Park or "P" position if DVD video wont show on the screen. This is a safety feature to stop irresponsible drivers from watching videos while driving. The rear seat screens arent subject to this nannying and will play regardless.
Step 3
Check the region code thats ed on the DVD packaging and make sure that it matches the region code that the Escalade can play, if the disc wont play. Escalades sold in the United States will play only Region 1.
Check the screen for a "Disk Read Error" if you continue to have problems. Disk read errors can be caused by a disc being inserted with an unknown format. The DVD player is compatible with an audio CD, a CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-Video, DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW disc, along with the MP3 and WMA formats. Other formats wont play. Errors also can be caused by hot discs (allow them to cool) and by torn labels, scratched discs and upside down discs.
