If your 2001 Toyota will not start the problem may be with your starter. However, if youve tested bot the starter and the battery and they both test good, the problem could be with your starter relay. The starter in your 2001 Toyota is powered by the starter relay which is located inside the relay panel inside the engine compartment. A volt meter is all you need to test your starter relay.
Step 1
Pop your Toyotas hood and remove the negative battery cable with your socket set.
Step 2
Open your Toyotas relay panel, which is located on the drivers side of the engine block, near the battery.
Step 3
Pull the starter relay out by hand, which will be marked clearly on the inside of the relay diagram ed on the inside of the relay cover lid.
Test the relay by placing your volt meters test leads on the two relay connectors. Set your meter to volts. If the meter reflects any continuity between the sensors terminals, the sensor is not good any more.
