Contenu

Some BMW convertible-top vehicles are equipped with rollover bars that extend from behind the back-seat headrests when built-in sensors detect that a rollover accident may take place. In some cases, minor accidents can cause the rollover bars to extend. The rollover bars should be reset so they can properly extend when needed. It is important to carefully follow the procedure when resetting the rollover bars to ensure that they are not damaged or incorrectly retracted.

Step 1

Insert the tip of the flat-blade screwdriver into the small opening in the plastic panel at the base of the rollover bars.

Step 2

Rotate the screwdriver back and forth to cause the plastic panel to pop up. Remove the panel to expose the rollover reset button.

Step 3

Press and hold the rollover reset button.

Step 4

Push down on the top of the rollover bars to move them back into the bar compartment. Release the reset button after the rollover bars are fully retracted.

Step 5

Replace the plastic panel at the base of the bars. Press down on the panel until it snaps into place.

Repeat the steps for the second set of rollover bars.
