Computers in automobiles to control the amount of current fed into electrical components such as sensors, digital dash controls and much more. It functions similar to other computers except that it only comes on when the ignition of the car is turned on. The car computer also helps mechanics in diagnosing problems in the vehicle. The actual location of the computer on any vehicle is given in the owners manual that came with the car.

Step 1

Use the Phillips-head screw driver to remove the side kick plate which is located on the passenger side floor board under the dash and in front of the door. Slide the kick plate out by hand to reveal the computer.

Step 2

Use the 10 mm socket and ratchet to remove the two bolts in the holding bracket.

Step 3

Unplug all the wires from the computer by squeezing each wire plug and sliding it out. Slide the computer out of the bracket and remove it from the vehicle


Insert the new computer into the bracket. Reinstall the wire plugs. Install the bolts into the bracket. Reinstall the kick plate.
