The A6 is a sedan produced by German automobile manufacturer Audi. Occasionally, the turn signal flasher relay can fail in the A6, causing the turn signals to blink sporadically or not at all when activated. You can replace the turn signal flasher relay in your A6 yourself instead of taking the vehicle to a mechanic or to the dealer, saving a good deal of time and money. The turn signal flasher relay is located behind the hazard light switch, which you can access by removing the associated dash trim panel.
Step 1
Place a thin, soft cloth over the plastic trim that surrounds the hazard light button on the dash, located directly beneath the center air vents.
Step 2
Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the edges of the plastic trim panel, using the cloth to protect the surface of the plastic trim from scratches while you remove it.
Step 3
Pry along the outside edge of the plastic trim until you can remove it. Set the trim piece aside.
Step 4
Grasp the sides of the hazard button with a pair of pliers and pull the button directly off. Set the button aside.
Step 5
Grasp the inner edge of the turn signal flasher relay, located behind the hazard button, with needle-nose pliers. Pull it directly out of the dash to remove. Discard the old relay and button.
Step 6
Insert the new turn signal flasher relay into the opening and press in until secure. The new turn signal relay includes a replacement hazard button already attached.
Line up the plastic trim piece around the hazard button. Press into the dash until secure.
