Accessing the window motors in your car is relatively simple and can be done in a couple hours, saving you from having to pay a mechanics hourly rate. With just a few simple tools and a little bit of time, you can replace the window motor of your car for only the price of the part.
Step 1
Remove the outer door panel.
Step 2
Locate the covering clips and use the pry bar to disconnect them. This will expose the screws underneath so they can be taken out.
Step 3
Detach all the wiring kits with a flathead screwdriver, to push into the clip to separate the two pieces.
Step 4
Lift the door panel up and off the main door once everything has been disconnected.
Step 5
Disconnect the wire harness in the upper right corner of the metal door panel.
Step 6
Pinch the two white clips that are attached to the female side of the motor and the metal door frame to disconnect them.
Step 7
Use the socket wrench to loosen and remove the bolts that are holding the inside door panel on.
Step 8
Unscrew the three screws on the back side of the motor bracket, which secure the motor to the cable spool.
Step 9
Pull out the window motor.
Step 10
Identify the male and female parts of the motor and spool, to determine how they go together.
Step 11
Line up the male and female parts of the new window motor.
Reattach the screws and bolts of the motor, and then of the door panel--in the reverse order of removal--to put everything back together.

- Check your manual for the location of the screws on the door panel, and for replacement-part numbers.
