The Chevrolet Blazer with the ZR2 option package was manufactured from 1995 to 2005 and included wide stance fender flares. These flares can be removed easily for repair or cleaning, without jacking up the vehicle or dismantling nearby parts.

Step 1

Locate the bolts holding the plastic fender cover to the fender. There are between 8 and 10 bolts (models vary by year) on the underside of the fender flares lip, in the wheel well.

Step 2

Remove the fender flare bolts. Starting from the front, use the socket (5/16th) driver to unscrew the bolts, then store them in a safe location. The flare will remain in place even with the bolts removed. Continue with the remaining flares until all are unbolted.

Unsnap the fender flare from the fender. There is a protruding "lip" that sticks out about 1/2 inch from the wheel well holding the fender flare in place. Once the bolts are removed, you can pull the plastic flare off, exposing this lip. The rear flares are similar to the front ones but have more bolts due to their length. Starting from the front of the fender, work the flare off in a downward motion. If the flare does not come off easily, check to make sure all bolts have been removed.

Tip

  • The rear flares will not fit onto a four-door Blazer without modification. Flares cannot be added to a Blazer without the fender "lips" without modification. Wear safety protection when working on a vehicle.

Warning

  • Pull gently to pop the flare from the lip, once the bolts are removed. Pulling too hard will damage the plastic.
