Suspension

The lower control arm bushings have been reported to fail prematurely, causing the ball joint to come loose. The driver can lose control over the car’s steering system, which could result in a collision. A recall was issued in 2008 for the affected model-years. A Chrysler dealership will replace the defective parts free of charge.
Cooling System
PT Cruisers not equipped with a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine have experienced problems with the vehicle’s cooling system. The engine cooling fan’s motor can suddenly fail, which results in engine overheating. The overheating engine can cause serious damage to the vehicle. Control Module
The power train control module in some PT Cruisers from model-years 2001 to 2003 has reportedly failed suddenly and prematurely. The PT Cruiser’s power train control module regulates the engine and starting system’s functions. When the power train control module fails, the car will not start at all. The failed power train control module must be replaced in order for the car’s engine to start up.
