Road debris and rocks can fly into a windshield when other vehicles tires pick them up and launch them backwards into a following car or truck. A windshield crack may seem small when it first occurs but it can run and become quite large. The changes in weather from cool at night to warm in the day can also cause the crack to extend itself across the windshield. Sudden overnight freezes can even lead a crack to expand and break the entire windshield out of a car.
Step 1
Open the Krazy Glue by twisting off the lid in a counterclockwise direction. Use a pair of scissors to snip off the end of the tube so that the liquid can flow.
Step 2
Apply Krazy Glue to the inside of the windshield along the length of the crack. Squeeze the tube slightly as you start on one end of the crack and move to the other end.
Step 3
Spread the Krazy Glue in a thin line along the crack using a cotton swab. Wipe any excess glue with a cotton swab.
Apply Krazy Glue to the outside of the windshield along the crack in the same manner.
Tips
- When you are applying Krazy Glue to the windshield do not squeeze the tube too hard or the glue will run down the windshield and be visible.
- This process will temporarily keep a crack from getting larger in a windshield. However, due to temperature changes and rain the glue will eventually wear off. At this point, you will need to reapply it.
- Check the laws in your state for windshield replacement factors. When the crack in a windshield is a pre-determined amount of inches from the edge of a windshield it will not pass inspection and will need replacement.
- It may be a good idea to purchase a package of Krazy Glue remover in case of accidental spills on the windshield or on your hands.
Warning
- Do not get Krazy Glue on hands, fingers or skin, as it will bond the skin to the next item that it touches.
