The Yamaha Banshee 350 was a sport ATV sold in the United States between 1987 and 2006. Yamaha manufactured the Banshee throughout its production years with little change to the engine or chassis. The popular Banshee 350 was said to be extremely quick and powerful.
Engine
The Yamaha Banshee 350 had a 347 cc, twin-cylinder, two-stroke engine that was liquid-cooled. The compression ratio was 6.5-to-1, and it had a bore and stroke of 2.52 by 2.13 inches. The Banshee had a six-speed transmission. It had a kick-starter, and was two-wheel drive. The Banshee could hold up to 3.2 gallons of fuel.
Chassis
Weighing in at 386 pounds, the Banshee 350 was 73 inches long, 43.3 inches wide and 42.5 inches tall with a seat height of 31.5 inches. The front tires were AT21x7-10, and the rears were AT20x10-9. It had front dual-hydraulic disc brakes, and a single hydraulic disc in the rear. The Banshee had a five-way independent double wishbone front suspension with 9.1 inches of travel. The rear had a swing arm with rebound, compression and pre-load adjustments and 8.7 inches of travel.
Differences
Even though Yamaha kept the Banshee the same throughout its production years, some minor changes included the color combinations for the vehicle paint. The rear suspension in earlier models was swingarm with a monocross shock rather than one with rebound. The rear tires in earlier models were also larger. The 1987 Banshee used a 21x10-9 rear tire versus the 2002 and later models which had 20x10-9 rear tires.
