Harley-Davidson began making motorcycles in 1903. For the model year 1994, its ninety-first year of operation, Harley-Davidson offered motorcycles in four family lines: Sportster, Dyna, Softail and Touring. Harley-Davidson also manufactured three motorcycle models not available to the general public, two police motorcycles and a racing bike.

1994 Harley-Davidson Sportsters

There were four Sportster models in the 1994 Harley-Davidson lineup. Three of them were variatons of the entry-level 883 Sportster: the Sportster Standard, Sportster Deluxe and Sportster Hugger. All of the 883 models were equipped with air-cooled, 883-cc engines and five-speed transmissions. The fourth 1994 Sportster model was the 1200 Sportster. The 1200 had an air-cooled, 1189-cc engine and five-speed transmission.

1994 Harley-Davidson Dynas

Harley-Davidson had introduced the Dyna family of motorcycles in 1991. There were five models in the 1994 Harley-Davidson Dyna family: the Dyna Low Rider, Dyna Wide Glide, Super Glide, Low Rider Convertible and Low Rider Custom. All of the Dyna models were equipped with air-cooled 1338-cc engines and five-speed transmissions.

1994 Harley-Davidson Softails

Each of the five models in the 1994 Harley-Davidson Softail family was equipped with an air-cooled, 1338-cc engine and five-speed transmission. The models were: the Softail Custom, Softail Springer, Softail Fat Boy, Heritage Softail Custom and Heritage Softail Special.

1994 Harley-Davidson Touring Motorcycles

Harley-Davidsons Touring family had long been favored by long-distance riders. In 1994 Harley-Davidson introduced the instant classic Electra Glide Road King. The Road King model was such a success and over the years spawned so many sub-models that it nearly became a distinct model family of its own. The Touring family included two other models in 1994: the Electra Glide Classic and Electra Glide Ultra Classic. Each of the touring models had an air-cooled, 1338-cc engine and five-speed transmission.

1994 Harley-Davidson Specialty Motorcycles

Harley-Davidson made two police motorcycles in 1994: the FLHTP and FXRP. Each had an air-cooled, 1338-cc engine and five-speed transmission. Harley-Davidson ventured into Superbike racing in 1994 with the new VR1000 motorcycle. The VR1000 had a liquid-cooled, dual-overhead cam, 1000-cc engine.
