Those sticky dash pad holders cling to your dash like glue. But along with your cell phone, they also keep dust and debris firmly gripped to the surface. Over time, as dash pad holders accumulate debris, they may lose their adhesive properties. When this happens, simply wash the dirt away and put it back to work in your car. And the sound of your phone hitting the floor board does not have to be your cleaning alert. To keep dust to a minimum, wash the dash pad once every two weeks -- more often if you smoke in the car.

Step 1

Peel the pad off your dash board.

Step 2

Clean the dash with your usual cleaner or wipe it with a wet rag. Allow it to air dry.

Step 3

Rinse the dash pad under running water. Rub your fingers over the surface of the pad to loosen any dust and debris. Once the pad passes visual inspection, hang it to dry.

Place the dash pad back on your dash. Avoid placing it on the exact same spot each time. That protected spot fades more slowly than the rest of the dash and can leave a permanent dark mark.
