Contenu
The Chevrolet S-10 comes with a compact temporary spare tire. This tire is not intended for extended use. Ideally, youll use the spare tire to drive to a service center where you can have it replaced with a full-size tire. The compact spare tire is often referred to as a "donut."
Mounting Location
As with many trucks, the Chevrolet S-10s spare tire is held in place by a metal cable and carrier. Its located directly in front of the trucks rear bumper bumper. The spare tire is not visible unless you bend down and inspect the area in front of the bumper.
Removing the Spare
The factory jack handle is required to remove the spare tire from the S-10. This handle is located behind the rear seat, or between the front seats on the cabin rear wall if the truck is a standard cab. To use it, the owner opens the compartment to remove the handle and inserts it into the hold in the upper-passenger side corner of the tailgate, then turns the jack handle counterclockwise to lower the spare tire and remove it from the carrier.
Replacing the Spare
To return the spare to its position, the operator loops the carriers mount through the center of the spare tire, then pushes the tire beneath the rear bumper, reinserts the jack handle and turns it clockwise to raise the spare tire carrier to its usual position.
