Powered by a 5.6 liter V-8 that produces 317 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 385 pound-feet of torque at 3,400 rpm, the 2014 Nissan Titan can tow up to 7,400 pounds without the Premium Utility -- towing -- package. The towing package raises this limit to 9,500 pounds for the King Cab and 9,400 for the longer-wheelbase Crew Cab. Towing Capacity
When towing an RV trailer, remember to take the weight of luggage and cargo into account. You must not exceed the gross combined weight rating -- GCWR -- of the truck and trailer. Consult the Titans owners manual -- see Resources for a downloadable version -- for additional information on calculating the tongue weight and GCWR. For trailers 3,500 pounds, Nissan recommends only those that have a brake system.
Available Towable RVs
The 9,500-pound limit puts some large fifth-wheel style RV trailers out of reach, but most conventional bumper-hitch trailers are well within the Titans capability. A compact RV trailer like the 14-foot Coachmen Clipper 14R, for instance, weighs 2,335 pounds unloaded and has a gross weight rating of 3,532 pounds. The larger 31-foot Freedom Express 281RLDS Liberty Edition weighs 5,550 pounds dry and 7,600 pounds loaded. Lightweight fifth-wheels like the 26-foot Keystone Cougar XLite 26RBI, weighing 6,030 pounds dry, are at the upper range of the Titans capabilities.
