All ATVs, including four-wheelers, have a 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN). On most four-wheelers, you can search for the VIN number in a couple of different places commonly used by the manufacturers.

Step 1

Get down on the ground next to your four-wheeler (either side).

Step 2

Look up under the four-wheeler on the frame. Turn on your flashlight and search for the VIN plate. The plate will have a 17-digit number on it. If you dont find it on this side, search on the other side.

Go to the front of the four-wheeler if you still have not found the VIN plate. Some manufacturers will mount the plate on the left side of the engine. Shine your flashlight on left side of the engine and locate the plate. Make sure you have the VIN plate, not the engine plate with the engine model number. The VIN is labeled as such and uses a 17-digit number.
