The battery of a car can power on an assortment of devices installed in your vehicle. After starting, your car doesnt use much electricity from the battery. The car runs mostly on the engine, leaving the battery to run the radio, windshield wipers and electric windows. If you want, it is possible to run a television off of the electricity provided by the car battery.
Step 1
Insert an AC power plug adapter into the cigarette lighter port. The plug adapter has a two- or three-pronged port on it so you can connect electrical devices to the port.
Step 2
Insert your key into the ignition and power on the car. Although you do not need the engine running, you do need the car power on to connect a television.
Step 3
Plug the television into the AC power plug adapter.
Press the "Power" button on the television.
Tip
- Some cars have electrical plugs installed. If your car has an electrical plug you do not need to insert the AC power plug adapter into the cigarette lighter port.
