The 1999 Ford F-150 is available in both extended cab and regular cab configurations. Trim levels include the standard "Work" base model, as well as the XL, XLT and top-tier Lariat option package.To increase safety in the event of a substantial crash or vehicle rollover, all models feature a resettable fuel pump cut-off switch. After experiencing a hard jolt or minor accident, the fuel pump shut-off switch might trip, preventing the fuel pump from delivering fuel to the engine. You can reset the switch in a few simple steps.
Step 1
Place the vehicles transmission in the "Park" position and engage the parking brake. Switch off the ignition switch and exit the vehicle.
Step 2
Examine the vehicles underbody and surrounding ground for apparent fuel leaks or odors.
Step 3
Open the front passenger side door after performing inspections to the vehicle. Press the small round fuel pump cut-off switch located underneath the passenger side dashboard, near the door rocker panel and below the glove compartment.
Switch the vehicles ignition to the "ON" position for a few seconds to prime the fuel pump. Switch the ignition to the "OFF" position and inspect for fuel leaks before driving the vehicle.
