To maintain the safety of your vehicle, it is essential to replace broken headlights as soon as possible. Replacing the headlights in a Subaru Forrester is a simple process that you can do yourself, which can save you the cost of taking your car to a repair shop.
Step 1
Pop open your hood and look at the area directly above the spot where the headlights sit. If your battery is in the vicinity of this area remove it so your hands can move freely.
Step 2
Remove the retaining screw of the windshield washer nozzle with the Phillips head screwdriver and move it out of your way as well.
Step 3
Remove the bulb cover by turning counterclockwise. Then use the pliers to pull out the retainer spring that holds in the headlight assembly.
Step 4
Unplug the electrical connector from the back of the assembly and remove the old bulb.
Step 5
Plug the electrical connector into the back of the new headlight assembly. Make sure the bulb is completely secure in the housing.
Step 6
Put the retaining spring back in place and replace the bulb cover.
Step 7
Use the Phillips head screwdriver to put the retaining screw of the windshield washer nozzle back in.
Step 8
Secure the battery back in place if applicable.
Start your car and flip your headlights on. Step out of the car and move around to the front to check and see that the new headlight is working.
