Contenu

The EGR solenoid is a small plastic switch that regulates the amount of vacuum pressure sent to the EGR valve. It is normally attached to the engine block with a nut and is close to the EGR valve. The solenoid can be located by following the rubber vacuum hose from the EGR valve on the back of the engine block to the solenoid. Replacing the EGR solenoid can be done in just a few minutes and you can save time doing it yourself.

Step 1

Unfasten the negative battery cable from the vehicle battery post with an open-end wrench before attempting to replace the EGR solenoid.

Step 2

Remove the electrical connector and detach the vacuum hoses from the solenoid.

Step 3

Loosen the nut that secures the solenoid to the engine block with a socket wrench and remove the solenoid from the engine compartment.

Step 4

Attach the new EGR solenoid to the engine block with the nut and connect the vacuum hoses and electrical wiring connectors to the solenoid.

Connect the negative battery cable to the battery post of the vehicle.
