Contenu

Your Buick has a complex wiring schematic that is protected by fuses and relays. The horn uses a relay which is made to shut down when there is an electrical surge that may cause damage to the automobile. Once the electrical system surges, the relay will need to be replaced. Once the relay is replaced, it is important to find out what made the old relay burn out.

Step 1

Open the hood to access the fuse panel. The fuse panel is located behind the battery.

Step 2

Open the fuse panel by unscrewing the knob on the top of the panel counterclockwise. Pull the cover off the panel after pulling the knob out.

Step 3

Locate the horn relay in the fuse panel. The relay will be labeled on the diagram imed on the bottom of the fuse panel cover.

Step 4

Pull the fuse relay out by hand. Replace it with the new relay. Push the new relay into the fuse panel until it stops.

Step 5

Tighten the fuse panel cover over the panel by tightening the knob to the cover. Turn it clockwise until it stops.

Close the hood. Test the horn by pressing the center of the steering wheel.

Tip

  • A replacement relay can be purchased at any automotive parts store.
