Removing nicotine from car windshields is important for safety. When nicotine builds up, a yellowish film blocks your field of vision. If you smoke or allow others to smoke in your car, cleaning the windshield is a vital step. This is especially true at night. The yellow film can create blur from oncoming headlights. This will hinder your perception of where the cars are coming from. Removing nicotine from car windshields should be a weekly occurrence. It takes approximately 20 minutes, once a week, to remove the nicotine from the windshield.
Step 1
Purchase a commercial window cleaner. Locate a product that has streak-free and scented properties. You can purchase these from a local department or home improvement retailers. The window cleaners include Windex, 409 and CLR. Obtain the spray bottle style.
Step 2
Fill the pan with scalding hot water. By the time you use the water, it should be cool enough to touch. Take all the items you need to clean the car windshield out to the vehicle.
Step 3
Spray the window cleaner of your choice on the corner of the windshield. You will want to complete this process in sections so that the cleaner does not dry on the window. Let the cleaner sit on the window for approximately two minutes.
Step 4
Use the soft bristle brush to scrub the corner where the cleaner is. With a circular motion press roughly and scour the car windshield. Go over that area for approximately one minute.
Step 5
Dip your rag into the pan of hot water. Rub the entire cleaner off the corner of the windshield.
Step 6
Dry the area with your cloth. You will want to dry the car windshield as soon as the cleaning process is complete to ensure that no water spots or streaks remain.
Repeat steps 2 to 4 for removing nicotine from the remainder of the car windshield.
