The Chevy Tahoe is one of GMCs many SUVs in its lineup. You might want to replace an armrest or recover it. The Tahoe comes with bucket seats, in a variety of upholstery options: leather, cloth or vinyl. The bucket seats also come with an attached armrest. The armrests cannot be changed from side to side and are not interchangeable. Changing the armrest in a Chevy Tahoe doesnt take any special tools and should take about an hour to do.
Step 1
Tilt the seat towards the dash using the release latch on the bottom of the seat. Remove the plastic J-hook with a pair of needle-nose pliers. The J-hook is located at the bottom of the back of the seat and runs the length of the seat.
Step 2
Force the end of the seat cover through the crack under the back of the seat until you can reach it from the front. Slowly pull the seat cover up and around the armrest.
Grasp the foam under the seat cover and push it aside and out of the way. Remove the spring clip on the end of the rod holding the armrest in place with the needle-nose pliers. This will allow you to remove the armrest.
Warning
- Be careful not to tear the fabric while pushing it through the bottom of the crack of the seat.
