The Chevy TrailBlazer was first introduced in the United States in 2002. Although it shared a couple years of production with the S10 Blazer, the slightly larger TrailBlazer inevitably took the S10 Blazers place. Unlike the S10 Blazer, the Trailblazer was only available in four-door models. Two-door versions of the S10 Blazer would mount the spare tire on the back gate of the vehicle while the four-door versions would mount the spare underneath the rear undercarriage. All models of the TrailBlazer adopted this method of hanging the spare underneath the vehicle.

Step 1

Locate the roadside emergency kit on the TrailBlazer. On the shorter wheelbase models, the kit is located under the rear seat, and the longer wheelbase versions of the models stored the kit in the drivers side rear quarter panel compartment.

Step 2

Raise the rear lift gate (on longer wheel base versions, this step would be performed to obtain the kit).

Step 3

Assemble the lug wrench to the socket wrench by placing the mating squared hole of the lug wrench over the end of the socket wrench to form a T-shaped tool.

Step 4

Place the socket wrench through the drive shaft hole of the spare tire. Alignment of the end of the socket wrench to the end of the hoist shaft is important. If the end of the wrench misses the end of the hoist shaft, realign the socket wrench until the two mate properly.

Turn the lug wrench counterclockwise. Continue to turn the wrench until the cable lowers to the ground and has enough slack to lift the spare tire up and remove the center the center mounting bracket from the hub of the spare tire. Angle the mounting bracket (attached to the cable) sideways to fit it through the hub of the spare tire.
