![How To Replace Window Crank Handle 1997-2004 Dodge Dakota](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/BECWjPidgOM/hqdefault.jpg)
Contenu
Although most modern vehicles do not with manual windows, the base model Dodge Dakota does. Older Dakota models may also come equipped with manual windows. Manual windows are operated by a simple turn-crank, often called a window crank. The crank attaches to the knob, which raises and lowers the window based on the direction it is turned. Manual window cranks are held in place by simple s clips (sometimes called "C" clips). Removing the Dakotas window crank is simple and only takes a few minutes.
Step 1
Roll your Dakotas window all the way down. Note the exact position of the handle (for re-installation).
Step 2
Insert the window crank tool between the door panel and the window cranks base. Push the tool firmly to release the spring clip. The spring clip will pop out; do not lose it, youll need it to reinstall the window crank.
Grasp the window crank by its base. Pull the crank away from the Dakotas door panel.
Tips
- You can purchase a window crank tool from any auto parts store. The tool is generic; it does not need to be specifically made for the Dodge Dakota.
- To reinstall the window crank, position the crank back in place (in the same position as when you removed it). Push the s clip around the knob, behind the cranks base, until it snaps on.
