The Bear Tracker is a four-wheeled all terrain vehicle (ATV) manufactured by Yamaha. It originally hit the market in 1999 as one of Yamahas smallest four-wheeled ATVs and was manufactured until 1994. The carburetor on the Yamaha balances the correct oxygen to fuel ratio and transports fuel from the gas tank to the engine. Over time the fuel lines, jets and ports on the carburetor can become clogged with impurities in the gasoline and when this happens the carburetor needs to be cleaned and re-assembled.
Step 1
Access the carburetor by removing the air filter cover, the air filter and the air filter casing with a nut driver.
Step 2
Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove all hoses from the ports on the carburetor.
Step 3
Remove the retaining bolts holding the carburetor in place with a socket set. Remove the throttle linkage from the carburetor control arm with pliers.
Step 4
Place the carburetor on a work bench and remove the high-speed needle and the float and float valve. Do this with a screwdriver. Clean the inside of the float bowl and float with spray carburetor cleaner.
Step 5
Remove all the Bear Tracker carburetor jets with a screwdriver. Clean all the jets and fuel line ports with the carburetor cleaner. Replace the jets with the screwdriver once the carburetor has completely dried from cleaning.
Step 6
Replace the high speed needle, the float and float bowl with the screwdriver.
Step 7
Set the carburetor back in place on the engine of the ATV and then replace the retaining bolts with the socket set.
Step 8
Replace all hoses and fuel lines running to the carb with the screwdriver.
Replace the air filter case, the filter and the filter cover with the nut driver.
