The Jeep Wrangler is made for the outdoors. The interior is basic, as everything is held down by bolts. The back seats of the Jeep are no different. Unbolt a few bolts and the seat comes right out. The seat can be removed to make extra room in the back or if you want to replace the seat. The removal will only take a few minutes.

Making Room

Ensure both of the front seats are positioned all the way forward with the back support tilted to the dash. This will ensure that you will have all the room necessary for sliding out the back seat. You will also have plenty of room to loosen the bolts on the floorboard to take the seat out.

Unbolting the Back Seat

Locate the four bolts that hold the seat down. They will be located at all four corners of the bench seat. Loosen them with a socket wrench. Save the bolts so you can use them for a new seat or install the old seat back into the jeep. Once you have loosened the seats you will see two mounting brackets on both front bolts. Place these mounting brackets to the side with the bolts. You may need these for a later installation.

Removing the Back Seat

You can either tilt the seat over and slide it out the front door or try and lift it out the back. The easiest way is to lift the seat up slightly and, with some help, ease it out the passenger door. That is why you want to make sure the front seats are as far forward as possible. Have a person assist by lifting one end as you guide the other end out of the passenger side. You may need to tilt the seat forward or backward to ensure it comes out of the back smoothly. Place the seat to the side and out of the way.
