Contenu

The Jeep Grand Cherokee has a bumper and fascia on the rear that uses a foam isolator to absorb impacts. Removing the fascia, absorber and bumper as a unit is possible or as separate components. Replacement bumpers are available from the dealership or through a collision parts supplier. In some cases. you can also find replacement bumpers, fascia and other components from a salvage yard in good condition.

Step 1

Raise the rear of your Jeep Grand Cherokee using a jack and support it by placing a set of jack stands under the rear axle housing. Lower the jack until the Jeep is resting securely on the jack stands.

Step 2

Locate the push-in connectors that secure the front edges of the bumper fascia along the back edge of the rear fender wells. Pop the connectors out with a flat screwdriver and set them aside.

Step 3

Locate the four mounting bolts for the rear bumper brackets under the back of the Jeep on the rear frame section. There are two on each side of the Jeep.

Remove the two bolts on each side of the rear frame using a socket and ratchet. Pull the bumper straight off the rear of the Jeep. Set the bumper aside.
