P265/70R17 tires are a larger passenger-rated tire found on newer SUVs and trucks. The P265 series is one of the biggest tires manufactured found stock on a vehicle standing 32.6 inches tall with a 10.4-inch section width (sidewall to sidewall) and 7.3-inch height on the sidewall. P-rated tires have a maximum tire pressure of 44psi. Most vehicles providing the P265/70R17 as a stock tire require the tires to be inflated to 35psi for optimal performance.
Step 1
Locate the tire information sticker on the drivers side door frame. Identify the vehicles recommended tire pressure on the sticker. Consult your owners manual if you cannot find the sticker. Use 35psi as the standard if you do not have an owners manual or tire information sticker.
Step 2
Remove the valve cap and set to the side.
Step 3
Inflate the tire using an air supply, such as an air pump found at gasoline stations. Pause frequently to check the tire pressure with a tire pressure gauge. Do not overfill.
Replace the valve cap.
Tips
- The valve cap provides a moisture barrier for the tire. Replace the unit if you lose the cap to avoid water vapor and moisture from entering the tire.
- Apply downward pressure to the tire if you are trying to seat the bead. Stand the tire up and lean on it while airing up the tire to help the bead seat properly. Do not exceed 44psi.
