Automotive key remotes are a convenient security feature that have been a standard luxury we often take for granted. Occasionally programming a key remote, or more commonly know as a key fob, becomes necessary due to battery failure or the addition of a new key. Programming your 2009 Toyota Camry key is a straightforward process that can be accomplished in a matter of minutes.
Step 1
Open the drivers door, enter the car and leave the door open. All other doors will remain shut.
Step 2
Insert the key you would like to program fully into the ignition and without turning it, immediately pull it back out. Repeat this step once more within five seconds.
Step 3
Close and immediately reopen the drivers door twice. Fully insert the key into the ignition without turning it and pull it back out. Note: this step must be done within 40 seconds.
Step 4
Close and then immediately reopen the drivers door twice more. Insert the key into the ignition without turning it and without pulling it back out, close the drivers side door. Turn the key to the "On" position without starting the car; turn it back to the "Off" position and remove the key from the ignition. Note: this step must be done within 40 seconds. If steps one through four have been done correctly, the power locks will lock and unlock indicating the programming mode has been accessed. If not, repeat steps one through four.
Rapidly press the "Unlock" and "Lock" buttons on the key at the same time for roughly one and a half seconds or between 8 to 15 times. Press and hold down just the "Lock" button for about two seconds. Note: the car locks will automatically lock and then unlock to indicate success. Repeat this step for all additional key remotes being programmed within 40 seconds of entering programming mode.

- Check your key remotes battery before reprogramming it and replace it, if necessary.
