The 2006 XLT 5.4-liter Triton F-150 is a full-sized pickup truck designed and manufactured by Ford Motor Company. The F-Series trucks use a modular single overhead cam (SOHC) engine. The vehicle is equipped with a positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve, which removes gases from inside the engine crankcase. This results in increased engine efficiency. Ford recommends replacing the PCV valve every 60,000 miles to ensure that these gases are being evacuated properly. Before you can replace the valve, you need to know where it is.

Step 1

Park the 2006 Triton F-150 on a level surface. Allow the truck to cool down for a half hour before performing any maintenance under the hood.

Step 2

Pop the hood of the truck by pulling the release lever inside the vehicle under the steering column. Lift the hood and prop it open.

Step 3

Locate the upper intake manifold on the drivers side of the vehicle. The valve is found in the upper intake manifold.

Look for a 2-inch round cylinder valve connected to a vacuum hose that goes to the valve cover. The valve is secured to the manifold by fasteners in the 5.4-liter Triton. This is the PCV valve.
