Motorists who receive traffic citations can attend traffic school to keep the offense from appearing on their driving records. You can attend a one- to two-day driving course in person, or you can complete your traffic school requirements online. In most states, commercial drivers are not eligible to attend driving school, and regular license holders may not be eligible depending on the violation and the drivers previous offenses. If you are eligible, attending traffic school will keep your license in good standing if your moving violation was minor.
Step 1
Contact the court in the county where you received the ticket. Ask to speak with a representative in the civil traffic division.
Step 2
Recite your ticket number to the telephone representative. Be ready to provide your name, address, drivers license number, the violation date and city if you lost or misplaced your ticket.
Inquire about the amount of time that you have left to attend traffic school. Each state has different traffic school laws, and you must abide by the laws of the state where you received the violation. Ask about state-specific laws to make sure that you are eligible to attend before you enroll.
