Dodge offers a variety of vehicles from which to choose, from the rugged Nitro, Journey and Grand Caravan, to the sporty Challenger, Avenger and Viper. You may want to use your Dodge vehicles trunk for storing items such as groceries, luggage or sporting equipment. For older Dodge vehicles, the trunk could only be opened manually with a key. Newer Dodge vehicles use an electronic key fob that have a button which is dedicated to opening the trunk.

Step 1

Press the "Trunk Release" button on your electronic key fob. You may have to push the button twice, depending on your vehicle. This button generally displays an outline of a car with an open trunk.

Step 2

Unlock the trunk from inside the vehicle by pushing the "Trunk Release" button, which may be located on the center console or on the instrument panel to the left of the steering wheel, depending on your vehicle.

Step 3

Unlatch the trunk, if you have become trapped inside it, by pulling the "Emergency Release" lever. This lever is often located at the top of the trunk and may glow in the dark in some vehicles.

Use the vehicles key to open the trunk if you own an older Dodge vehicle that does not have an electronic key device. Insert the key into the keyhole on the trunk and turn it to the left. This causes the trunk to release and open.
