Your vehicles horn is a critical safety component but is often misused or taken for granted. Your trucks horn is electrically powered and a number of electrical problems can cause your 2002 Chevrolet Silverados horn to not work.
Horn Fuse
The horn fuse on your 2002 Chevy Silverado is a necessary component in the horns electrical system. Your trucks horn fuse ensures that only safe levels of electricity reach the horns mechanical system.
Fuse Location
There are two fuse boxes on your 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. The low amperage fuse box is in the cab of the truck while the higher amperage fuse panel is housed on the drivers side of the engine compartment. The horn fuse is the largest fuse centered in the right column in the higher amperage fuse panel.
Replacing a Horn Fuse
Take caution when replacing fuses. Ensure that the positive battery cable is disconnected before servicing any fuse; this will prevent an electric shock. When youve located the horn fuse and have a replacement of the same size and amperage rating, you can pull the old fuse out with needlenose pliers or an inexpensive fuse puller. The new one snaps in exactly how the old one came out. When youve replaced the fuse, securely close the fuse box lid to prevent moisture buildup.
