Ford Rangers equipped with separate front bucket seats have a center console. The console has an armrest that doubles as a storage compartment, as well as a cup holder and coin holder. Models without the separate front bucket seats simply have a flip-down armrest. If your Rangers center console gets damaged, you can easily remove it and replace it with a new one. The process only takes about 30 minutes with common tools.
Step 1
Open the center console lid. At the bottom youll find two Phillips head screws. Remove these with a Phillips screwdriver. Keep these screws, as well as the other screws and bolts youll remove, in a small cup for storage. Youll need them to install the new console.
Step 2
Inspect the front part of the console, beneath the radio. In the coin holder area, youll find four bolts. Remove the four bolts with a ratchet.
Step 3
Inspect the center part of the console. Youll find two Phillips-head screws. Remove these with a Phillips screwdriver.
Step 4
Pull the console upward to unhook it from the floorboard. Remove it from the Ranger. With the console removed, youll see the mounting brackets for the console and the nuts the screws and bolts go into. It is not necessary to remove these brackets when replacing the console.
Step 5
Move the replacement console into the cabin. Line up the console with the mounting brackets on the floorboard. The console screw and bolt holes should be lined up with the mounting brackets nuts.
Hold the console firmly in place with hand. Insert and tighten the two Phillips-head screws in the console storage compartment, and then insert and tighten the four bolts at the front part of the console. Insert and tighten the two Phillips-head screws in the center of the console.

- The console removal and replacement procedure also applies to the Mazda B-Series truck, which is a clone of the Ford Ranger.
