Contenu

Skid steer loaders are a variety of compact loader. These machines are built with either wheels or a track, are easily maneuverable and have arms in the front to which different implements can be attached --- such as buckets for digging. Ford produces a variety of CL-model skid steer loaders.

CL20 Skid Steer Loader

The Ford CL20 skid steer loader was produced for nine years, from 1974 until 1983. It has a 25 horsepower, Onan gasoline engine and weighs 2,900 lbs. The front and rear tires are identical at 27 by 8.50-15. The breakout force of this skid steer loaders boom is 800 lbs.

CL30 and CL40 Skid Steer Loaders

The CL30 and CL40 models were also produced between 1974 and 1983. The CL30 has a 30 horsepower, gasoline Wisconsin engine and the CL40 has a 40 horsepower, Ford gasoline engine. The front and rear tires of both of these skid steer loader models are 7.50-15. While the CL30 weighs 4,050 lbs, the CL40 model is slightly lighter at 4,020 lbs. The boom breakout force of both skid steer loaders is 1,500 lbs. The CL30 and CL40 are hydrostatic, four-wheel drive machines with a drive system comprising pumps, chain drives and hydraulic motors. The steering is controlled by linkages and levers and turning through the flow of oil in the drive circuits.

CL 55 Skid Steer Loader

The Ford CL55 skid steer loader was in production from 1983 until 1986, directly following the CL20, CL30 and CL40 models. It weighs 5,700 lbs and has a diesel, Shibaura engine that is 42 horsepower. The front and rear tires are identical, at 7.00-15, and the bucket measures 60 inches in width. The breakout force of the boom of this skid steer loader is 1,700 lbs, heavier than the previous models.

CL65 Skid Steer Loader

The CL65 is the most powerful skid steer loader of the lineup, with a 64 horsepower, diesel Shibaura engine. It is also larger, at 6,100 lbs and with 10.00-16.5 front and rear tires. In production at the same time as the CL55, from 1983 until 1986, the CL65 has a 72-inch bucket width and 2,000 lbs of boom breakout force.
