Contenu

Honda has numerous manufacturing facilities around the world. They have plants in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Japan. Some Honda vehicles are exclusively built in one manufacturing plant, while others, such as the Accord, may be built in several plants. Determining if your Honda car or truck was made in the United States is made simple due to the standardized use of the VIN (vehicle identification number) system. Your Hondas VIN is more than a series of random characters; each character tells you a little bit about the vehicle. One of them tells you where it was made.

Step 1

Look at the dashboard at the bottom of the driver-side windshield on your Honda to find the primary VIN stamp.

Step 2

Look on the outside edge of the door (with the door open) to find the specification sticker, if you cannot view the VIN beneath the windshield.

Read the first character of the VIN. If the first character is a "1" or "4," your Honda was assembled in the United States. If it is a "J," your Honda was assembled in Japan. If its a "2," it was assembled in Canada. If its a "3," it was assembled in Mexico.

Tip

  • The VIN is also ed on your title or registration certificate.
