Remote starters have become nearly standard features on new automobiles all around the world, and these starters are used to automatically engage your ignition. With the starters working, you can use your remote to start the vehicle from as far as a few hundred feet away. You can also disable your remotes in just seconds from within your vehicle by disabling the starter system itself.
Step 1
Make sure your automobile is turned off and that your key is out of the ignition.
Step 2
Remove the dashboard panels around the ignition to locate the toggle switch underneath the steering column. You can remove the dashboard panels by unscrewing them and popping them off gently with a flat blade such as a screwdriver or knife.
Step 3
Look for the module with four wires. One wire is connected to the engine and another to the ignition, and this will be the remote starter module.
Step 4
Flip the toggle switch on this module from "On" to "Off."
Replace the dashboard panels to finish the disabling. You can do this by snapping them back into place and replacing the screws.
