Contenu

Your headlights come into contact with dirt and debris, and they become dull and dirty. The suns rays also degrade the outer rings of the headlights. Cleaning your lights lets you drive safely with enough lighting and thus avoid accidents caused by poor visibility. With creativity, simple home remedies can be used to clean the headlights and leave them spotless and attractive.

Items you will need

  • Toothpaste or sanding dust

  • Water

  • Old rags

  • Glass headlight wax

  • Baking soda

  • Vinegar

  • Sponge

  • Soft flannel cloth

  • Masking tape

  • Sandpaper

Clean the headlights.

Use the masking tape to cover the area around the headlights before starting the procedure. Pour plenty of water on your headlights to make them wet and easy to scrub with the toothpaste. Put some toothpaste mixed with baking soda on the rag and rub it on your headlights using a circular motion. Scrub the whole headlight, taking care to cover the affected area. Add as much toothpaste as needed to ensure that all the dirt is removed. Use a combination of vinegar and water to wipe off the toothpaste.

Use sandpaper.

If there are scratch lines on the headlights, use sandpaper to get rid of them. Soak the sandpaper in water to make it wet before scrubbing. Fold the sandpaper and apply pressure evenly when cleaning.

Warnings

Do not use excessive force when using the sandpaper. Apply just enough pressure to get rid of a tiny scratch.

Take care while rubbing the paste to avoid touching and scrubbing surfaces of your car, as it may leave marks or scratches.

Rinse your headlights.

Use plenty of water and a sponge to rinse and clean your headlights. Wipe them using a soft flannel cloth and let the headlights dry. Repeat the procedure for effective results before proceeding further.

Protect your headlight with wax.

Apply a layer of glass headlight wax. Squeeze some wax on the clean part of the rag and let it soak for a few seconds. Spread the wax layer evenly on the headlights in a single, steady stroke from left to right. Multiple coats will make it last longer and keep the dirt off the headlights.
