Barnacle, moss and algae growth on your boats hull are not only very unsightly but left unchecked, can lead to hull corrosion. They can cause drag in the water, resulting in lowered fuel efficiency of the boat, and they can degrade the value of your boat if you plan to resell it. Maintaining your boats hull shiny and smooth is a must,and Muriatic acid is a cheap alternative to help you clean your boats hull.
Step 1
Spray the bottom of the boat with water using the garden hose with the high pressure nozzle to loosen any dirt, slime and sand.
Step 2
Put on the safety goggles and rubber gloves.
Step 3
Fill the bottle sprayer with a 50/50 solution of Muriatic acid and water.
Step 4
Spray one side of the boats bottom thoroughly with the Muriatic acid mixture using the bottle sprayer. Let the acid mixture soak on the boats bottom for 10 to 15 minutes.
Step 5
Clean the boat using the brush to completely remove any barnacles, slime and moss growth.
Step 6
Rinse the boats bottom with water using the garden hose with the high pressure nozzle.
Repeat steps 4 to 6 to clean the opposite side of the boat.
