Your cars vehicle identification number (VIN) is a treasure trove of information. Its alpha-numerical code can tell you what year your Ford product was built as well as what plant the car was produced in, what body style it is, what original equipment came with the car, and more. The unique serial number can also provide you with information related to recalls. Ford issues recalls of its vehicles whenever a safety or emissions-related concern arises. To check your cars VIN to see if it is part of a recall, all you need to do is access Fords recall website.
Step 1
Locate your Fords vehicle identification number on the driver-side door jamb or on the metal sticker at the bottom of your Fords windshield on the drivers side.
Step 2
Write the vehicle identification number on a piece of paper.
Step 3
Open your computers Internet browser.
Step 4
Enter ford.com/owner-services/customer-support/recall-information in the URL box at the top of the browser.
Step 5
Press the "Enter" or "Return" key on your computers keyboard. The "Owner Services - Recall Information" website will open.
Step 6
Click on the down arrow next to the wording "Choose a Vehicle Brand" to select "Ford," "Lincoln," "Mercury" or "Volvo."
Step 7
Enter your cars vehicle identification number in the box labeled "Enter Your VIN."
Step 8
Click "Find." The website will present a results page listing any recalls related to your vehicle.
Click "File," "," "OK" to the results page, if desired.
