Case IH (International Harvester) is a collaboration of several heavy equipment manufacturers. Case, International Harvester and David Brown are a few Case IH brand names. The equipment produced by these companies includes tractors, heavy construction vehicles and agricultural machines. Case IH was established in 1842 by Jerome I. Case in Racine, Wisconsin. The original company was the Racine Threshing Machine Works; a farm equipment manufacturer. The company began building construction machines along with farm equipment after the year 1869. The Case 310 was released in 1957 under the American Tractor Corporation line of products.

Engine and Fuel

The bore and stroke of this four-cylinder engine is 3.375 by 4.125 inches. The displacement is 148ci and compression is 7.1 to 1. The bulldozer is rated 1750 rpm. The engine is cooled by up to 12 quarts liquid. It is 34 to 42 horsepower. The engine runs on gasoline. The first gas-powered tractor manufactured by Case was released in 1892.

The dozer is rated 12 volts. It weighs 3,200 to 5,000 lbs depending on the model and attachments.

Transmission

The transmission is five-speed: four forward gears and one reverse gear. The clutch for the bulldozer is 10 to 11 inches with 10 splines. The chassis is 4 by 2 with two-wheel drive.

Track Wear

Wear plates limit the wear to the bulldozer tracks. Three wear plates are used on the bulldozer. The plates are 3/8 to 1/2 inch thick. They weigh four pounds each. The pressure plate weighs 15 to 20 pounds.
