The Ford 5.8-liter engine was offered in three models of trucks in 1993. The utility trucks with this engine were the F-250 and F-350. A "performance" model called the F-150 Lightning received a slightly modified version of the 5.8-liter engine. As of 2010, the 5.8-liter engine is still used in Ford cars, trucks and SUVs.

The 1993 Ford F-250 and F-350 use the same version of the 5.8-liter engine. This engine produces 200 horsepower. The F-150 Lightning offers a slight increase in power, and its engine produces 240 horsepower.

Torque

Torque is the twisting power of the engine and directly affects the vehicles initial acceleration when carrying weight. The 5.8-liter engine in the 1993 F-250 and F-350 produces 310 pound-feet of torque. In the F-150 Lightning, it produces 340 pound-feet of torque.
